Classifications update Philip Fowler, 23rd February 201827th September 2021 It has been a while since I provided an update on how many classifications everyone is doing. We are approaching a significant milestone; to date 9,705 people have contributed to BashTheBug! It will be BashTheBug’s first birthday in a bit over a month on Saturday 7 April 2018, so hopefully our 10,000th person will join the project before then! Overall you’ve done 677,620 classifications as of yesterday! I’ll keep a eye out for when we go over 750,000 classifications. We are on the third set of images; the first was the largest and included results from seven laboratories spread over four continents. We are currently analysing the results – more on this soon. The second and third datasets were both collected in different Asian countries and we are coming up to half way through the latter. There was a bit of a dip a few weeks ago when we swapped from the second to third datasets and I think the “out of data” green banner hung around when in reality we had plenty of data – please get in touch via the Talk Boards/email/Twitter. The top ten users have done 123,595 classifications between them (and no, I’m not one of them). I see some new names in there and our top user who hails from Belgium has now done over 20,000 classifications by herself!
