Tuberculosis: from Victorian fashion to citizen science Philip Fowler, 8th June 201827th September 2021 This public event comprised three talks, each about 15-25 minutes long. Carolyn Day talked about how in the first half of the 19th century that was “a tubercular moment in which cultural ideas about beauty increasingly intertwined with the disease process of tuberculosis to allow for the ravages of the illness to be presented in an aesthetically pleasing light.”.
